Parapade Hills ward celebrates Children's Day
On November 28, 2024, the Parapade Hills ward came together to celebrate Children's Day at the home of Mr. Denzil and Mrs. Lizzie Fernandes. The festivities commenced at 5:30 p.m. with a ward meeting attended by 30 members. Following the meeting, guests enjoyed a welcome drink and cake. The event featured a range of engaging games for the children, organized by Mrs. Pramila Furtado.
The formal proceedings began with a brief prayer service led by Mrs. Juliet Lasrado, which was followed by a warm welcome from the ward gurkar, Mr. Simon Pireira. The occasion was honored by the presence of Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, Fr. Kevin D'Souza, and Sr. Juliana, the sister superior of St. Ann's Convent, along with three additional nuns and two guest priests from Karwar. The young children of the ward warmly welcomed the guests with flowers. Mrs. Daisy Ferrao spoke to the attendees about the significance of Children's Day and the values that both children and parents should uphold. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis emphasized the vital role children play in society. Fr. Kevin D'Souza offered grace before the meal, and the guest priests introduced themselves, sharing insights about their lives in Karwar.
The program was skillfully hosted by Mrs. Pramila Furtado, and the talented children of the ward captivated the audience with their performances of songs and dances. The enjoyment continued with a housie-housie game led by Ms. Primal Furtado, with prizes awarded to the winners of both the housie-housie and other fun games. Mrs. Reema Pinto expressed gratitude with a vote of thanks. The celebration concluded with a delightful dinner and ice cream, attended by approximately 60 members. The evening was further enlivened by singing and dancing after the meal.
