Palm Sunday at the Most Holy Redeemer Church - Derebail
The triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem is commemorated every year as Palm Sunday by the Catholic Church. Marking the beginning of the Holy Week, the Palm Sunday is also celebrated in preparation to the great week of Jesus' suffering, death, and resurrection for the salvation of the human kind.
The Palm Sunday in the current Liturgical Year was on the 14th of April, 2019. The blessing of the Palm began at 07:00 A.M. at Holy Family School Grounds. After the blessing of the palms, the parishioners proceeded to the Most Holy Redeemer Church where mass followed. Rev Fr. Austin Peres, Fr. Gratian Alvares and Fr. Walter Pinto concelebrated the mass. In his Homily, Fr. Gratian recalled Jesus' suffering and fortitude. He stressed on how we should gain strength from Jesus when we are scorned upon for the things that we haven't done. The Official Parish Choir added to the solemnity of the service.
