MOST HOLY REDEEMER CHURCH CELEBRATES THE ASSUMPTION OF MOTHER MARY AND INDEPENDENCE DAY.

On the glorious day of Mother Mary's Assumption into Heaven ,the parishioners of Derebail gathered for a solemn Eucharistic celebration at 7.30 A.M. on the 15th of August, 2019. Rev. Fr. Gratian Alvares offered the mass. His prime focus on this day was to highlight the role  of Mother Mary in bringing us all closer to God. 

After the Eucharistic celebration  Mrs Jascintha Mascarenhas was felicitated by the Parish Priest Rev Fr Austin Peter Peres, Resident Fr Gratian Alvares, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council Mr Edward Coelho and Mrs Lizzy Fernandes who for being  awarded the Florence Nightingale National Award for her selfless service in the field of Nursing and Care.The entire gathering applauded and the Parish Priest congratulated her. Mr Valerian Mascarenhas, then took his oath as the Gurkar (Ward Leader) of Landlinks ward in the presence of the Parish Priest Rev Fr. Austin Peter Peres . 

After mass a flag hoisting ceremony was conducted within the church premise. The staff and students of  Holy Family School ,sisters from the convent , the parishioners along Fr Austin Peter Peres and the office bearers and members of the  Centennial Lions Club were a part of the august gathering that took part in the flag hoisting ceremony. Fr. Austen. Peris  hoisted and unfurled the Indian tri-colour flag under whose shadow we all live as proud citizens of India. This ceremony indeed rekindled the spirit of patriotism for many in the gathering.Post celebration the members of  Catholic Sabha , Derebail Unit distributed sweets.
