Derebail Parishioners Celebrate Independence Day and the Feast of Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary

On the feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Virgin Mary, after the 7:30 a.m. eucharistic  celebration, the parishioners of Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail assembled in front of the flag pole for the flag hoisting ceremony. The Parish Priest of Most Holy Redeemer Church Derebail Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis, Fr. Gerald Pinto along with the office bearers of the Parish Pastoral Council ,the President of Catholic Sabha Derebail and the office bearers of the 21 commissions were present. Mr Kishore K. the President of Konchady Mitra Mandala, the President and Secretary of Konchady Yuwaka Mandala Mr Padmanabha K. and Mr Vijay Kumar were the invited guests. Christon Joshua Menezes hosted the ceremony and Mr Ronald D'Souza welcomed the guests and the gathering.Former servicemen from the parish were honoured for their selfless service and were welcomed with a flower. Former serviceman Mr. Oswald Dsouza was the commanding officer for the flag hoisting ceremony.   The national song Vande Mataram was followed by the hoisting of the flag by Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis. As soon as the flag was hoisted the gathering honoured the flag with a  salute and all sang the national anthem in unison. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis in his speech spoke on the significance of the day and remembered all those who contributed to the Nation's freedom.
 Mr Nelson Castelino proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Sweets sponsored by Catholic Sabha Derebail was then distributed.
