Bible Sharing Method at Derebail Parish

A training programme on the Seven Steps Bible Sharing Method of the Word of God was held at Derebail Church on 2nd February 2026 at 6.00 p.m., under the leadership of the Commission for Basic Ecclesial Communities.
Rev. Fr. Sunil D’Souza, Diocesan Director, was the resource person for the programme. Fr. Joseph Martis, Parish Priest, warmly welcomed the gathering and the resource person.
Fr. Sunil, in a simple and concrete manner, explained in detail the Seven Steps Gospel Sharing Method. He elaborated on each step with practical examples and also referred to a small booklet that provides clear guidelines. He highlighted that each step has its own specificity and spiritual depth, and emphasized that every step should be handled carefully by the animator. He stressed that the facilitator must make the process easy, simple, and participatory.
He further encouraged the Ward Gurkars to ensure that the meetings of the Small Christian Communities (SCCs) at the ward level remain dynamic, vibrant, and meaningful. Fr. Sunil spoke for about an hour and also provided time for clarifications and questions from the participants.
After the session, Fr. Joseph Martis thanked the resource person and appreciated the efforts taken by the Ward Gurkars. He also proposed that, since this year is being observed as the Year of Children, at least one SCC meeting in each ward could be animated by children.
Mrs. Shaila Noronha, SCC Coordinator, requested all the wards to submit their reports on time and mentioned that the majority of the wards had done commendable work by sending their reports punctually.
Fr. Nelson Peris concluded the programme with the blessing. The meeting was well attended, with 110 participants taking part.
