Feast of St Cecelia

The feast of St Cecelia,the patroness of musicians is celebrated on the 22nd of November.  She is reverred as the patron saint of the choir in the Catholic Church as she sang out to the Lord during her times of pain and joy .The  Choir group of Most Holy Redeemer Church celebrated their Patrons feast of St. Cecilia on 22.11.2019. After partaking in the Eucharistic  Celebration at 5.30 PM all Choir members assembled for a get together at the Church Meeting Hall.  The programme commenced with the hymn 'Gayta Kaliz Muje' . The President of the Choir Mrs. Molly Suares welcomed the gathering.  The members of the Children's Choir and the Senior Choir entertained the gathering by singing Konkani Folk Songs and hymns. The active participation of the members in the antakshari was indeed an attractive and joyous experience.  Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peris, Director of the Choir , Rev. Fr. Gratian Alvares, Res. Priest, Mrs. Molly Suares, President of the Choir Group and Mrs. Lizzie Fernandes, Secretary of PPP were on the dias.  Fr. Gratian addressed the group and congratulated  the choir members.  Fr. Austin Peres distributed the prizes to the singers, musicians and choir masters  as a token of recognition of their commitment towards the choir.  Fr.Austin Peter Peres at his Presidential Speech remembered and appreciated the hardwork and service rendered by the choir members, singers, musicians and choir masters .He thanked the Children's Youth, English, Senior Choir and other volunteers in the liturgy. He also stated that choir  service brings harmony and teaches us sacrifice in the life. Fr.Austin thanked the entire choir group and the participants. He added that choir  helps in congregational singing and not an exhibition of talents . He thanked God for the choir members and explained the significance of the choir in the liturgy.  Mrs. Molly Suares, President handed over the charges to new office bearers: President - Smt. Sheela D Souza, Secretary  - Smt. Laveena Quadras,  Treasurer - Smt. Juliana Coelho.   Fr.Gratian Alvares prayed for Grace before meals. Fr. Austin Peres concluded the  stage programme by blessing the audience and singing the hymn of St.Cecilia and declared for fellowship dinner.  About 45 members were present for the programme. The programme was well compered by Mrs.Juliana Coelho.
